The Embassy of Bulgaria in Pretoria donated food products to needy families from the village of Mbuzini in South Africa. The invitation to participate in the donation initiative was sent by the office of South African Deputy Minister of Tourism, Fish Mahlalela, the Bulgarian diplomatic mission said on its official website.

The funds for the purchase of the food packages were collected by volunteer members of the embassy, and a local Bulgarian meat company  also contributed to the donation. On the part of the embassy, Attache Kaloyan Georgiev participated in the initiative on the spot, the Embassy added.

The donation was handed over at a ceremony in one of the schools in the village of Mbuzini, where the Embassy representative was met by Deputy Minister Fish Mahlalela and 15 pre-selected at-risk families.

Deputy Minister Mahlalela expressed gratitude to the Embassy for joining the  initiative to provide support to families in need. He also recalled the financial, educational and humanitarian support that Bulgaria provided to the South African people during the years of the struggle against apartheid.

Attache Kaloyan Georgiev stated that he was happy to represent the Embassy on the occasion of a charity event on the occasion of Christmas. He congratulated those present on the Christmas and New Year holidays and expressed confidence that the donation will create coziness and warmth in homes and will support families.

"The residents of the village warmly and gratefully welcomed the donation of the Bulgarian Embassy - 15 boxes of food products, which were distributed among the needy families," the Embassy also said.

The village of Mbuzini is located on the South African border with Mozambique.
