site.btaDay 77: RSV 421 Sails off Cabo Blanco on Its Way to Mar del Plata

At 10 am local time (3 pm Eastern European time) on March 13, the Bulgarian military research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) is sailing off Cape Cabo Blanco, heading 28° to Mar del Plata in Argentina, said to BTA by the ship's Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Radko Muevski.
Weather conditions in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Argentina are relatively favorable for sailing - the ship is moving at a speed of 9 knots, with 9 m/s wind coming from the north and moderate waves.
About 650 nautical miles separate the RSV 421from Mar del Plata, with the ship expected to arrive there on March 16, added Lieutenant Commander Muevski. At the naval base in the Argentine port, the vessel will bunker fuel and load food supplies before heading across the Atlantic on its way back home.
BTA's Daily News editor Konstantin Karagyozov is the only member of the media who is traveling aboard the ship to Livingston Island and back and covered the Bulgarian expedition on site throughout its stay in Antarctica.
