The Council of Ministers has approved Bulgaria's positions and the composition of the Bulgarian delegation to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, the Government Information Service said on Wednesday. Led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, the delegation will include Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Health Minister Silvi Kirilov, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, and Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov.

The theme of this year's general debate is "Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights". It highlights the need to strengthen multilateralism through diplomacy, dialogue and partnerships, while emphasizing the equality and interdependence of the UN’s three pillars: peace and security, development and human rights, the Government Information Service said.

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter and the 70th anniversary of Bulgaria's membership in the organization.

Bulgaria’s participation will provide an opportunity to present national positions and priorities, as well as to hold bilateral meetings with senior representatives of the UN and member states.
