The security services are monitoring the situation in the Middle East and will promptly report to Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on the issue, the Council of Ministers' press centre said on Sunday. The coordination units are carrying out the tasks assigned to them. Currently, there is no immediate threat to the security of the country, the press release added.
All data coming in, including from the International Atomic Energy Agency, indicate that there is no radiation contamination. The radiation background on the territory of Bulgaria is normal and is continuously monitored by the authorized bodies, the press service added.
The Government is in constant coordination with European Union and NATO partners. Bulgaria is concerned about the growing tensions in the region and the potential risks to international peace and security. Preserving the international legal order and arms control mechanisms is of utmost importance.
