The economies of Bulgaria and Uzbekistan can complement each other in order to move forward, initiate joint projects and go on third-country markets together, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said at the beginning of the plenary talks between the delegations of Bulgaria and Uzbekistan, in Tashkent on Tuesday. President Rumen Radev is on an official visit to this country at the invitation of his counterpart.

Mirziyoyev said that the two negotiated a lot of things and have very good relations. The two countries' economies will not compete, but will enrich each other if relations are properly developed.

He commended Rumen Radev on Bulgaria’s successful implementation of economic platforms and programmes. He noted that inflation is contained, which is a very important indicator, and new jobs are being created. He noted that Bulgaria's international prestige is being acknowledged, and that it is easy to talk about achievements, not so easy to implement them, but in Bulgaria they are really embodied in actions.

The Uzbek President said that he accepted with pleasure the invitation to visit Bulgaria extended by his counterpart. Before his visit, he will send Uzbek companies and ministers to Bulgaria to clarify the directions so that there are real results. Mirziyoyev is confident that as a result of the historic visit of the President of Bulgaria to Uzbekistan, the two countries will adopt a special roadmap which the two presidents will sign, and monitor its implementation.

Later today, the two presidents will sign a joint statement on strengthening bilateral political dialogue and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, connectivity, culture and educational exchange. During the visit, a cooperation programme for the period 2026-2027 between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries and a memorandum of understanding between the Municipalities of Sofia and Tashkent will be signed.
