site.btaPM Zhelyazkov: Bulgaria Remains Reliable Partner in Achieving EU's Goals

Bulgaria will continue to be a constructive, predictable and reliable partner in achieving the common goals and priorities of the European Union, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in a statement after a meeting here Sunday with European Council President Antonio Costa. 

Zhelyazkov pointed out that Costa’s first visit to Bulgaria coincides with an important anniversary: 20 years since the signing of the treaty on the country's accession to the European Union. “The signing is an important step and an achievement for the Bulgarian nation,” the Prime Minister said, pointing out that for two decades now Bulgaria has known where it belongs, knows what it aspires to and has defended the hard-won achievements of its European integration and belonging. 

“Today, when the European Union is facing new geopolitical and economic challenges, it is extremely important to preserve our unity and speak with one voice,” Zhelyazkov further said.
