Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Stoyan Andonov met with International School Sport Federation (ISF) President Zeljko Tanaskovic, the Ministry said on Tuesday.
“This visit is a sign of trust in Bulgaria and a recognition of our efforts to develop school sports,” Andonov said.
“We want more Bulgarian students to engage in sports, to participate in international competitions, and to feel that sport opens doors to the world,” he added.
ISF President Zeljko Tanaskovic expressed confidence in Bulgaria’s potential to take a leading role in global school sports.
“Bulgaria has all the prerequisites to be part of the future of world school sport — traditions, expertise, and ambition,” Tanaskovic emphasized.
Mariana Borukova, Chair of the Bulgarian Association of Sport for Students commented that this is a great opportunity for Bulgaria to have a stronger voice in international sports.
The discussion focused on best practices in the development of school sports in Bulgaria, specific conditions for hosting competitions from the ISF calendar, and the expansion of BASS’s sports activities. These efforts aim to position Bulgaria as a leader on the international school sports scene and strengthen cooperation and communication with the ISF team.
The meeting was also attended by Hasnae El Ayoubi, Executive Director of the International School Sport Federation.
