BSP - United Left MP Kiril Dobrev told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday that everyone has the right to participate in elections. His words came as a response to a statement made by the Chair of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), Roumen Hristov, who said that the president should not participate in politics for two years after leaving office. Dobrev emphasized that the Constitution clearly sets out the right of every Bulgarian citizen to vote and stand in elections.

"It sounds very Stalinist to me: there is a person, there is a problem; there is no person, there is no problem," the MP commented. "With this abbreviation - UDF - where has democracy gone?" he asked.

When asked about the possibility of the current President forming a political party, Dobrev pointed out that this topic has been discussed for the past two years and that it is ultimately up to Rumen Radev to decide whether or not to do so.

Regarding Sofia's waste crisis, Dobrev said that if the residents of the capital had made "the right choice in electing Vanya Grigorova as mayor," there would have been a municipal company to deal with the problem. He added that there would have been no talk of public procurement contracts at the expense of taxpayers. The MP gave the example of Blagoevgrad, where a municipal company had been established, adding that the entire BSP campaign was aimed at building strong municipal potential and capacity so that citizens would not have to pay unnecessary costs.
