The town of Tryavna welcomes the tenth anniversary edition of the Tryavna Ultra-marathon – an event that has become a tradition, an emotional experience and a celebration for hundreds of nature lovers and mountain enthusiasts, according to the organizers.

Tryavna Ultra remains true to its main focus – mountain running – but to mark the anniversary, the competition is expanding its scope by adding two cycling distances of 25 and 70 km. These will bring variety and dynamism for mountain biking enthusiasts. For those looking for an even more extreme challenge, the duathlon combines cycling with mountain running over 21 or 42 km – a real test of endurance and willpower.

The most experienced and prepared runners will face the classic ultra distances – 80 km with 3,100 m of elevation gain, as well as the iconic 100 km section, including a 4,000 m climb – a challenge that requires both physical strength and mental resilience.

A total of 1,310 participants from 31 countries will line up at the start in the heart of Tryavna to experience the magic of one of the most picturesque races in Bulgaria, the organizers said.

Over the past ten years, Tryavna Ultra has attracted 7,694 participants from around the world. The kilometres run so far amount to an impressive 389,102 km – equivalent to almost 10 laps around the Earth or 169 laps around Bulgaria.

The race routes pass through some of the most remarkable and inspiring places in the Central Balkan Mountains, including Shipka Peak, the Buzludzha Monument, the village of Bozhentsi from the Ravival period, the Etara ethnographic complex, and many other cultural and natural gems.
