site.btaNegative Temperatures in Mountain Regions, Mountain Rescue Service Says

Temperatures in the mountains are negative, in some places falling to minus 15C, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) told BTA.
There is a thick snow cover, which in most places is about 30 centimetres. In the high parts of the mountains it is windy.
Only the ski resort in Bansko is open, the MRS said.
On Monday, the mountain service took part in a rescue operation in Vitosha, during which an injured skier was helped. The man was skiing down from Cherni vrah in poor visibility and came across a troublesome terrain where he was injured, the MRS said.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said that over the mountains the clouds will be variable, more significant - in the afternoon hours, when in some places in the Rilo-Rhodope region and the Balkan Mountains there will be snow showers, in the lower parts - rain and snow. Moderate, and temporarily strong, westerly winds will blow in the highest parts. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 meters will be about 2C, at 2,000 meters - about minus 6C.
