site.btaTennis: Four Bulgarians Receive Wild Card for Sofia Open Singles Tournament
Four Bulgarians received a wild card entry in the singles' draw of the Sofia Open men's tennis tournament, which will be held in the Bulgarian capital between November 4 and 11. Two of them, Dimitar Kuzmanov and Alexandar Lazarov will start directly from the main draw, while the other two, Yanaki Milev and Adrian Andreev, will play in the qualifiers, the director of the ATP 250 tournament, Orlin Stanoytchev, said on Wednesday. The draw will be held on Friday.
Two more Bulgarians will play on a wild card in the doubles' draw: Alexander Donski, partnering with Lazarov, and Petr Nesterov, who will play with Milev.
Kuzmanov is the only player who has competed in all editions of the Sofia Open, scoring his biggest career win in 2021 when he defeated Italian Lorenzo Musetti. Lazarov also scored his biggest win in Sofia, defeating then world No.74 Jiri Lehecka, before losing to Musetti 7-6(5) 6-7(8) 2-6 in a close match.
A third wild card for Sofia Open's singles main draw is reserved for a foreigner, Stanoytchev said. He did not name the player.
