In October 2025, the overall business climate indicator in Bulgaria fell by 4.7 points compared to the previous month, with declines recorded across all observed sectors - industry, construction, retail trade, and services, according to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
In September, the NSI reported a slight monthly improvement in the business climate, with the overall indicator rising by 0.6 points compared to August, mainly due to growth in industry and retail trade, according to NSI data.
The composite indicator “business climate in industry” decreased in October by 3.3 points, reflecting unfavorable assessments and expectations of industrial entrepreneurs regarding the business situation of their enterprises. In construction, the indicator fell by 3 points due to similarly negative evaluations and expectations from construction entrepreneurs.
In retail trade, the decline was sharper, 9.6 points, as traders’ assessments and expectations for their companies’ business conditions shifted from “better” to “the same.” In the services sector, the indicator dropped by 4.5 points, reflecting cautious assessments and expectations of managers about their firms’ business situation.
