In September 2025, the annual inflation rate in the EU was 2.6%, up from 2.4% in August 2025 and 2.1% in September 2024. In Bulgaria, the rate stood at 4.1%, the seventh highest among Member States, up from 1.5% in September 2024, show Eurostat data published on Friday.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Cyprus (0.0%), France (1.1%), Italy and Greece (both 1.8%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (8.6%), Estonia (5.3%), Croatia and Slovakia (both 4.6%). Compared with August 2025, annual inflation fell in eight Member States, remained stable in four and rose in fifteen.
The euro area annual inflation rate was 2.2% in September 2025, up from 2.0% in August. A year earlier, the rate was 1.7%.
In September 2025, the monthly inflation rate rose by 0.1% both in the eurozone and the whole EU. In Bulgaria, the rate dropped by 0.6%.
The biggest increases in monthly rates were registered in Portugal (+1.0%), Greece, Romania, and Finland (+0.5% each). The most significant drops were observed in France and Estonia (-1.1%) each.
