Customs officials seized 600 excise-free cigarettes and over 700 kilograms of food products at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint on Thursday, the press centre of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Haskovo said.
The cigarettes were found in a passenger car driven by a 49-year-old resident of the Gabrovo village of Ryahovtsite, who was travelling on the route entering from Turkiye.
The employees of the checkpoint were notified of the smuggling by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the Customs Agency.
