Bulgarian football legend and 1994 Ballon d'Or winner Hristo Stoitchkov was a distinguished guest at the 14th edition of the Simposar Sarajevo 2025 International Sports Symposium, held from September 26 to 28 in Sarajevo. During the event, Stoitchkov received two awards and a plaque recognizing his outstanding contributions to the world of sports, his dedication to developing youth football globally, and his long-standing role as a football ambassador, said the Bulgarian Embassy in Bosnia and Hercegovina Thursday.

Widely celebrated as one of football’s greatest icons, Stoitchkov was part of Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team” and won the 1992 Champions League. Today, he continues to inspire young athletes as a commentator and ambassador for the sport, maintaining his passionate and recognizable spirit.

The symposium gathered over 50 notable figures from sports, media, and science across Southeast Europe, honoring sports legends from football, tennis, and basketball alike.
