site.btaBulgarian Development Bank Secures EUR 100 Million Loan for Energy Efficiency and Municipal Projects

Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) and United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) signed a financing agreement worth EUR 100 million, the BDB press service said on Monday.

The loan, extended by UBB to BDB, will fund the National Energy Efficiency Program for Multifamily Residential Buildings (2025-2029) and the Investment Programme for Municipal Projects, in accordance with state aid regulations.

The agreement is in line with the State Budget Act of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2025 and falls within the maximum amount of state guarantees allowed by the BDB Act.

With this signed agreement, the two banking institutions confirm their strategic partnership and commitment to the sustainable development of the banking and financial sector in Bulgaria, the official statement said.

BDB said that in December, the two banks signed a guarantee agreement under the InvestEU programme to finance small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and sustainable investments, with a total value of over EUR 335 million.
