The Sofia Opera is continuing its well-established tradition of presenting a New Year’s Gala Concert on December 31. The program includes excerpts from Macbeth, The Force of Destiny, Don Carlos, Ernani, and La Traviata (Verdi), Manon Lescaut (Puccini), The Elixir of Love and The Daughter of the Regiment (Donizetti), The Barber of Seville (Rossini), and others.
The ballet company will perform excerpts from Don Quixote and La Bayadere (Minkus), The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky), and others.
The concert will conclude with the Tritsch-Tratsch Polka by Johann Strauss Jr.
The oldest opera house outside the capital, the Stara Zagora Opera, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, is organizing a concert titled New Year’s Toast on December 31.
The Varna Opera is planning an afternoon performance of The Nutcracker on the last day of the year. Tchaikovsky’s classical ballet will be presented in the choreography of Marius Petipa.
