site.btaBulgaria’s First Major Exhibition of Certified Organic Producers Opens in Veliko Tarnovo

The inaugural edition of Bulgaria’s largest exhibition of certified organic producers opened on Friday in Veliko Tarnovo and will run through Sunday. The event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
Speaking at the opening, Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov highlighted that the exhibition promotes a highly sustainable model of farming – one that emphasizes responsibility toward nature, public health, and the long-term potential of Bulgaria’s agricultural resources. He cited data showing that Bulgaria currently has more than 5,600 operators under control contracts, with nearly 200,000 hectares of farmland certified as organic or in the process of conversion.
Tahov also recalled that with the approval of the third amendment to the Strategic Plan for Agricultural Development, support under the Organic Crop Production measure was strengthened by raising the degressive rates for all crop groups from 50% to 70%.
The exhibition was also attended by Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov, Regional Governor Yulia Likomanova-Mutafchieva, and Tsveta Karayancheva, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Forestry.
