A Bulgaria-China Conference on Trade and Economic Cooperation will take place on September 24 at the Hyatt Regency Sofia, organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) and the Chinese Embassy, BSMEPA said on Tuesday.
The conference will be held in the context of a visit by Jiangsu Province Vice Governor Li Junjun, who will be accompanied by a business delegation representing China's research and development, robotics, artificial intelligence, green energy, energy systems, smart photovoltaic systems, automotive and electric vehicles, among others.
In recent years, Bulgaria and China trade relations has shown significant growth, exceeding USD 2.2 billion in the first half of 2025 alone. Over the years, active dialogue between institutions has created a favorable environment for investments, technology exchange, and joint projects in key sectors such as energy, innovation, and digitalization, the promotion agency noted.
The conference will be opened by Deputy Innovation and Growth Minister Krasimir Yakimov.
BSMEPA noted that the event will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, presenting investment opportunities, and promoting cooperation in key sectors such as green energy, renewable energy sources (RES), artificial intelligence, robotics, research and development, and automotive.
The conference will include networking opportunities designed to facilitate new business contacts and partnerships, showcase new technological solutions, and allow for the exchange of experience between leading Bulgarian and Chinese companies.
A business delegation from China’s Sichuan Province, led by Vice Governor Dong Weimin, visited Bulgaria in early July. The event brought together officials from both administrations and business representatives from China and Bulgaria.
