In August 2025, the total business climate indicator remained relatively unchanged compared to the previous month, as it dropped from 20.6% to 20.2%, the National Statistical Institute reported on Friday. An increase in the indicator was observed in the industry and in the service sector, while a decrease was registered in the construction industry and in retail trade.

In July 2025, the indicator lost 1.1 percentage points from the previous month from 21.7% to 20.6%.

The composite indicator ‘business climate in retail trade’ decreased by 1.4 percentage points from 25% to 23.6% in August due to the reserved retailers’ assessments about the present business situation of the enterprises. Nearly 9 out of 10 retailers, or 87.3% of them, believe that selling prices will preserve their levels over the next 3 months.

The composite indicator ‘business climate in industry’ increased by 0.9 percentage points from 17.4% to 18.3% due to improved industrial entrepreneurs’ expectations about the business situation of the enterprises over the next 6 months.

In August, the composite indicator ‘business climate in construction’ dropped by 3 percentage points from 27.9% to 24.9% because of the unfavourable construction entrepreneurs’ assessments and expectations about the business situation of the enterprises.

The composite indicator ‘business climate in retail trade’ decreased by 1.4 percentage points from 25% to 23.6% as a result of the retailers’ reserved assessments about the present business situation of the enterprises. However, their forecasts about both the volume of sales and orders placed with suppliers over the next 3 months are improved.

The composite indicator ‘business climate in service sector’ increased by 0.8 percentage points from 15.1% to 15.9% as a result of the managers’ positive assessments of the present business situation of the enterprises. However, their opinions about the expected demand for services are unfavourable.
