In July, the number of trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad was a little over 1 million, which was 16.8% more than in the same month last year, show National Statistical Institute data published here on Wednesday. An increase in the trips with all observed purposes was registered.
The Bulgarian citizens made most trips to Greece (261,661), Turkiye (253,202), Romania (91,696), Germany (56,729), Serbia (54,325), Italy (38,438), France (34,773), Republic of North Macedonia (33,239), Spain (31,527), and Austria (28,810).
The trips with holiday and recreation purposes formed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad - 49.0%, followed by those with other purposes - 35.4%, and with professional purposes - 15.6%.
In July 2025, the number of visits of non-residents to Bulgaria was a little over 2 million - 5.6% more than the same month in 2024. An increase in the trips with all observed purposes was registered. Transit passes through the country were 36.5% of all visits of non-residents to Bulgaria.
The share of visits of ЕU citizens was 54.6% of the total number of non-residents‘ visits to Bulgaria and reached some 1.1 million, the largest being by visitors from Romania - 28.1%, Germany - 16.7%, Poland - 9.6%, and Greece - 8.6%.
The visits of non-residents from European countries outside the EU accounted for 37.2% of all visits to Bulgaria. The highest registered number of visits in this group came from Turkiye - 305,370.
The predominant share of the visits was with holiday and recreation purposes - 51.7%, followed by trips with other purposes - 42.6%, and with professional purposes - 5.7%.
