site.btaFlights from Sofia to Seven New Destinations Announced by Wizz Air


Wizz Air will operate flights from Sofia to seven new destinations, Andras Szabo, commercial officer for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, announced at a press conference in Sofia on Tuesday.
The seven new destinations are Chisinau (Moldova), Prague (Czechia), Turin (Italy), Marrakesh (Morocco), Warsaw Modlin (Poland), Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Islands), and Lamezia Terme (Italy). The flights' frequencies and start dates are available on the company's website.
Andras Szabo also announced that the company is planning to base another aircraft at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport. He said that Wizz Air currently has two bases, in Sofia and Varna, but also operates flights from Plovdiv and Burgas airports. At this stage, the company has eight aircraft based in Bulgaria and operates 46 routes to 16 countries.
Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, the operator of the capital's airport, said that Wizz Air’s expansion improves Sofia’s connectivity. According to him, the capital's airport has the potential to become a regional hub.
The press conference was also attended by Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev and Deputy Tourism Minister Pavlin Petrov.
