Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria MP, Martin Dimitrov, expressed reservations on the amendments and supplements to the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria Act adopted at second reading by the Budget and Finance Committee, speaking to journalists after its meeting Tuesday.

"Although some of the texts have been softened, the blows to business remain, and we fear that it will be divided into good and bad by the authorities, and that certain companies will be at great risk of receiving blows, which is a drawback of this law," Dimitrov told reporters after the committee meeting.

According to him, in the event of a significant hike in prices, the Council of Ministers will be able to impose any measures such as price and markup caps.

"There is one piece of good news in all this, our idea of “turbo competition” was very difficult to accept, but it was accepted, meaning that large chains will announce their prices, they will be summarized on a website, and every consumer will be able to choose the best prices for them in their respective city. In other words, the idea of transparency, competition, and the market being the strong regulator that stops price hikes is becoming a fact and is much more valuable than all the naive, I would say communist, regulations," Dimitrov added.
