Bulgaria has taken part in the prestigious professional event Touristischer Jahresauftakt 2026, organized by Erfurt–Weimar Airport, the Tourism Ministry's press centre said on Monday. The forum traditionally marks the opening of the tourist season in Germany’s federal state of Thuringia and has established itself as an important platform for professional dialogue and partnerships in the tourism sector.

Bulgaria’s participation was made possible with the leading role of the Tourism Ministry and forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s presence on the German tourism market - one of the key and strategic markets for Bulgarian tourism.

The event brought together more than 300 representatives of the tourism industry, including tour operators, travel agencies, experts, and media representatives. The programme featured a tourism fair with exhibitor stands, presentations by premium partners, a raffle, and a networking event that offered opportunities for direct professional meetings and the exchange of ideas.

During the forum, Bulgaria presented its potential as a year-round tourism destination, highlighting specialized tourism products and sustainable forms of travel.

Germany remains a traditional and strategic market for Bulgaria, with long-standing interest in the country as a destination for seaside, cultural, spa and wellness tourism, the Ministry's press release said.
