Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) Tuesday affirmed an average increase of heating energy and water supply prices by 4.56% for household consumers as of July 1 until June 30, 2026. The new average prices of electricity and heating were presented by EWRC head Plamen Mladenovski at a briefing after the energy regulator's closed-door meeting here on Tuesday.

For the customers of Toplofikatsia Sofia, the increase is 5.96%, of EVN Bulgaria Toplofikatsia 5.18%, of Toplofikatsia Pleven 4%, of Toplofikatsia Burgas 4.99%, of Veolia Energy Varna 1%, of Toplofikatsia Vratsa 4.90%, of Toplofikatsia VT 5%, of Toplofikatsia Razgrad 5.37%, of Yuliko EuroTrade 3%, of Toplofikatsia Ruse 5.03%, of Toplofikatsia Pernik 4.99%, and of Toplofikatsia Sliven 5.11%.

The EWRC Chair stressed that even with the increase, the prices of heating energy remain about 5% lower than those that household consumers paid in 2022 and 2023. In his words, the increase of 4.54% on average was achieved with a lot of effort on the part of the EWRC, as the average increase requested by the district heating companies amounted to 32%. The company in Veliko Tarnovo was the record holder with a request for a 93% increase in the heating price.

The EWRC Chair noted that if a household in Sofia pays an average monthly heating bill of about BGN 100, the increase for them would be BGN 6. In Plovdiv,  the increase would be by BGN 5.18, in Pleven by BGN 4, in Burgas by BGN 5, in Veliko Tarnovo by BGN 5, in Pernik by BGN 4.99, and in Sliven by BGN 5.11.
