In the latest podcast by the National Revenue Agency (NRA), Bulgarian retailers can find answers to key questions regarding the euro changeover in Bulgaria from the beginning of 2026. It dwells on requirements for receipts during the period of dual price display in both Bulgarian lev and euro. The podcast explains what information must be included on fiscal receipts, how to configure fiscal devices accordingly, and which businesses may be exempt.

This dual pricing period is set to begin on August 8, 2025, one month after the expected decision on Bulgaria’s entry into the eurozone.

During the dual display period, which will last until December 31, 2025, receipts must show the total amount payable in both BGN and EUR, along with the official exchange rate. From January 1, 2026, the receipts will show the amount in euros as the primary currency, with the converted value in levs and the exchange rate included.

The NRA advises all merchants to contact their fiscal device service providers or manufacturers to ensure timely and compliant adjustments.
