site.btaShanghai Jiao Tong University Seeks Partnership in Climate Science and Space Technology with Bulgarian Institutes


A delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China met with members of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), the BAS press office reported on Friday. The hosts were represented at the talks by BAS Vice President Emanuel Mutafov, Denitsa Borisova and Ventseslav Dimitrov of the Space Research and Technology Institute, and Petar Nozharov of the Climate, Atmosphere and Water Research Institute.
Prof. Mutafov presented the new lines of work at the BAS and suggested possibilities for scientific cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Speakers reviewed successful projects between the BAS and Chinese partners in the field of space research and environmental protection.
The leader of the visiting delegation, the university’s Communist Party Secretary Yang Zhenbin, outlined potential areas of joint work with the BAS. The Chinese showed particular interest in partnering in environmental and climate sciences and space technology.
The sides discussed ways to create flexible models of partnership and funding, including through academic visits, joint seminars and research initiatives. They laid emphasis on building lasting personal and institutional contacts between scientists.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of China’s most prestigious institutions of higher education and ranks among the top 100 universities in the world. It specializes in engineering sciences and STEM disciplines, the BAS said.
