Japanese University Shows Interest in Cooperation with University of Food Technology in Plovdiv

Professor Hiro Takahashi from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan, has shown interest in cooperation with the University of Food Technology (UFT) in Plovdiv. He held a working meeting with the UFT Rector, Prof. Galin Ivanov, and Deputy Rector, Assoc. Prof. Kiril Mihalev, the university said.

The Japanese scientist is a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University. The delegation also included two Japanese students - Taiki Hayano and Ryosuke Yamanaka.

Prof. Takahashi was impressed by the UFT base and the disciplines taught at the university. He indicated that cooperation between the two universities is of mutual interest. Rector Prof. Ivanov expressed readiness to sign a memorandum of cooperation, which would also include student exchange. The guests received gifts of yogurt produced at the UFT educational and production facility, rose jam and soap with the scent of Bulgarian oil-bearing rose.

During the visit, the two Japanese students prepared traditional Japanese dishes with Bulgarian yogurt produced at the facility of the Department of Milk and Dairy Technology. The Japanese students received assistance from UFT students, as well as visiting Erasmus students from France.
