"Bulgaria is active in the implementation, use, and regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) within the EU. When we talk about high technologies and innovation, it’s not about which country is the biggest, but which is the smartest. Special attention must be paid not only to the technological aspects of AI, but also to the ethical, social, and economic dimensions," said Martin Danovski, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, at GITEX EUROPE 2025 in Berlin—one of the largest international technology events. Danovski took part in a ministerial panel discussion titled "Intelligence as Infrastructure: The New Engine of Economic Power", the Bulgarian Ministry of Innovation and Growth reported on Thursday.

Danovski assured attendees that Bulgaria is focusing on preparing future specialists in the AI field, both in higher and secondary education.

“We must prepare the next generations to deal with the new type of industry, to have basic skills and knowledge in high technology, because that is the future,” the Deputy Minister added.

Another highlight of his speech in Berlin was the INSAIT Institute for AI and the enhanced “Discoverer” supercomputer equipped with new systems.

“Our country won a project two months ago to build one of the six new EU AI factories. We are working to position Bulgaria as a leader in the sector within the EU,” the Deputy Minister also noted.

During the tech event, Martin Danovski, together with Boyko Takov, Executive Director of the the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), officially opened the national pavilion. Bulgaria is represented by more than 100 high-tech startup companies, which had the opportunity to meet and present their products and services to potential investors and clients, according to the Ministry of Innovation and Growth.

GITEX EUROPE 2025 is one of the key technology events bringing together global leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions from the ICT sector to showcase new technologies, solutions, and trends in digital transformation. Around 40,000 participants from over 100 countries and more than 1,000 global investors, corporations, and partners are attending.

In parallel with the organized national stand at this year’s GITEX EUROPE 2025 in Berlin, BSMEPA also arranged Bulgaria’s national participation in another international expo—World of Private Label, held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This event targets manufacturers of private/retail brands.
