In March 2025 compared with February 2025, seasonally adjusted industrial production in Bulgaria decreased by 3.6%, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline, according to first estimates released by Eurostat on Thursday. Compared with March 2024, industrial production in the country fell by 8.3%, making Bulgaria the EU Member State with the largest annual decline.
After Bulgaria, the largest decreases were observed in Romania (-7.8%) and Denmark (-5.7%). The highest annual increases were recorded in Ireland (+50.2%), Malta (+10.1%) and Lithuania (+7.8%).
The highest monthly increases were recorded in Ireland (+14.6%), Malta (+4.4%) and Finland (+3.5%). The largest decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-6.3%), Denmark and Greece (both -4.6%) and Portugal (-4.0%).
Industrial production in the EU rose by 1.9% in March compared to February, while the euro area recorded a stronger increase of 2.6%, with both figures seasonally adjusted.
In February 2025, industrial production grew by 1.1% in both the euro area and the EU.
In March 2025 compared with March 2024, industrial production increased by 3.6% in the euro area and by 2.7% in the EU.
