Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said Bulgaria's entry in the Eurozone on January 1, 2026, will bring only benefits. He gave a briefing at which the Cabinet reported on the implementation of the governance programme adopted on February 24.

Zhelyazkov expressed hope that Bulgaria will receive a positive convergence report on June 4. "We have received assurances from our partners that they value Bulgaria's unwavering commitment to join the richest union in the world, the Eurozone. After that, we have much work to do to ensure a smooth changeover, above all in assuring the public that the euro is a path to prosperity, not the opposite.”

The Prime Minister stressed that any attempts at price gouging would be prevented.

"We thank all political forces that stand behind Bulgaria's European development and the government's European priorities," he added. "You heard Tuesday's statements that this government will enjoy the support of a significant majority as it advances Bulgaria's EU integration. This gives us confidence that the government has the necessary horizon to complete this process," the Prime Minister said.

Zhelyazkov also said that one of the government's major commitments is to create an environment attractive to investors.
