In an interview for BTA, Ficosota Food CEO Krasen Kyurkchiev said that over the past 10 years, Ficosota has invested more than BGN 255 million because of the conviction that sustainable growth can be achieved through long-term investments. Kyurkchiev is confident that investing is a must in order to have a company be competitive on the global market and enjoy sustained sales growth.

Ficosota is a Bulgarian company that employs some 1,400 people. It is a leading manufacturer of fast-moving consumer goods that include household products, personal care items and snack foods. Products are manufactured in Bulgaria and exported to over 80 countries. Ficosota's brands include Savex, Bruschette Maretti, Semana, Milde, Emeka, Pufies, My Motto, Kubeti, Teo. In late April, the company received an award in the Investor of the Year competition in the Sustainable Business category.

Among the company's latest large-scale projects is a high-tech production centre in Shumen, Northeastern Bulgaria, in which more than BGN 80 million have already been invested. The company is building a bruschetta bakery with 15,000 sq. m of floor area and an annual capacity of 29,000 tonnes of bruschetta.

Among the significant sustainable practices introduced at the company is the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roofs.

Kyurkchiev reported that the savoury snacks market in Bulgaria continues to grow. Ficosota's brand Bruschette Maretti hold 11 to 12% of the baked snacks market. The product also gets exported to Romania, Czechia, Germany, and the US. Exports accounted for over 70% of Ficosota's turnover in 2024. In the food sector that percentage was closer to 90%.
