A discussion  on the Clean Industrial Deal and aligning Europe's sustainability ambitions with market realities will take place in Sofia Friday. The event is organized by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Bulgaria.

The discussion aims to present measures proposed under the Clean Industrial Deal, and to debate the implications of the legislative proposals linked to the Green Deal and ways Bulgaria can prepare to implement those measures, according to the organizers.

Participants will include MEPs Radan Kanev (EPP), member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, and Tsvetelina Penkova (S&D), Vice-Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, as well as Petar Ganev, Senior Economist at the Institute for Market Economics. The discussion will be moderated by energy expert Slavtcho Neykov.

Topics on the agenda include what the Clean Industrial Deal proposes; how it will impact sustainability commitments; how the clean transition will be financed; whether climate targets can be achieved without harming competitiveness; what stance Bulgaria should take at the European level; and what reforms are needed in Bulgaria to fully benefit from the new framework.
