The monthly inflation rate in March 2025 measured by the Consumer Price Index was 0.2% compared to the previous month, and the annual inflation rate compared to March 2024 was 4%, the National Statistical Institute reported on Monday.
The inflation rate since the start of the year (March 2025 compared to December 2024) was 2.8%, and the annual average inflation rate for the April 2024 - March 2025 period compared to the April 2023 - March 2024 period was 2.6%.
The monthly inflation rate measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was 0.3%. The inflation rate since the start of the year (March 2025 compared to December 2024) was 2.5%, and the annual average inflation rate for the April 2024 - March 2025 period compared to the April 2023 - March 2024 period was 2.7%.
The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices is the comparable measure of inflation across EU Member States. It is one of the criteria for price stability and the readiness of Bulgaria to join the Eurozone. It stipulates that the inflation rate cannot exceed the inflation rate of the three best-performing Member States by more than 1.5 percentage points.
