Twenty-one Bulgarian Black Sea Beaches with Blue Flag Certificate This Year

Twenty-one Bulgarian Black Sea beaches have been distinguished with the prestigious
Blue Flag Award this year and their concessionaire were handed the certificates at a ceremony at Sveti Vlas resort. Sveti Vlas is also the location of Marina Dinevi, the only marina that has been awarded the Blue Flag certificate since 2007. 

The award winners will be subject to checks of quality control throughout the summer that will also include representatives from abroad, Stanimir Georgiev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Blue Flag Movement, told BTA, and wished a successful and problem-free season to all. 

An international jury considered the applications of 50 states in April this year. A total of 4,845 beaches in the Northern Hemisphere were distinguished, among them beaches in the USA and Albania for the first time. 

The following Bulgarian Black Sea beaches were awarded the Blue Flag certificate this year: White Lagoon; Albena; Kranevo North; Golden Sands; Chernomorets Chalet South; Byala South; Obzor Central; Sveti Vlas East; Sveti Vlas New; Sunny Beach North, Central and South; Nessebar South; Pomorie East; Camping Chernomorets; Sozopol Central; Sozopol Harmanite; 

In 2023 the Bulgarian Blue Flag movement is marking its 30th anniversary, Georgiev said.

The first Bulgarian beach to be distinguished was the one in Sunny Beach resort. In 2021 it had already been waving the Blue Flag for 25 years.
