The potential impact of the changes to the EU Regulation on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) and the Chemicals Strategy on the perfume industry is the focus of an international conference, which Kazanlak Mayor Galina Stoyanova opened on Tuesday in Kazanlak. Stoyanova told BTA that Tuesday's conference is the culmination of the joint efforts of the state, NGOs, producers and local authorities both in Bulgaria and France, who are lobbying to have the relabelling of essential oil products dropped. A vote on the changes is planned for September.

The forum was also attended by the caretaker Deputy Minister of Agriculture Georgi Sabev, Jerome Viaud, the Mayor of Kazanlak's twin city in France Grasse, MEP and rapporteur for the CLP regulation Maria Spyraki, MEP Andrey Novakov, Regional Director Europe of the International Fragrance Association Aurelie Perrichet, Executive Director of the Bulgarian National Association Essential Oils - Perfumery - Cosmetics Gergana Andreeva, as well as rose growers and producers of essential oil products.
