European and Bulgarian leaders, top experts, business executives, NGO representatives and members of the media are discussing "The Green Deal – Innovation, Investment and a Just Transition" at an event in Sofia on Friday.
The conference is co-organized by the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, AmCham, the British-Bulgarian Business Association, the Bulgarian-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.
The event was opened by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. Other speakers include, outgoing Deputy Prime and Regional Development Grozdan Karadjov, Deputy Prime Minister and Environment and Water Minister Borislav Sandov, Innovation and Growth Minister Daniel Lorer, Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov, EU Commissioners Eliza Ferreira (Cohesion and Reform), Paolo Gentiloni (Economic Affairs) and Mariya Gabriel (Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth), European Investment Bank President Werner Hoyer and Vice-President Lilyana Pavlova, Bulgarian MEPs Petar Vitanov and Radan Kanev, Bulgarian Development Bank Executive Director Tsanko Arabadjiev and Chief Economist Ilia Lingorski, Bulgartransgaz CEO Vladimir Malinov, Electricity System Operator Angelin Tsachev, Aurubis Bulgaria CEO Tim Kurth, FLAG Foundation Executive Director Nadya Dankinova, PanEurope Bulgaria President Gergana Passy, and Center for the Study of Democracy Program Director Ruslan Stefanov.
The conference is structured into parallel sessions on financial instruments for a just transition, energy and green transformation, regions in development, innovation, enterprise development and high technologies, and ESG policies and future technologies, biotechnology and agriculture.
