1,251 Insolvency/Bankruptcy Cases Reported in Q4/2025, Increasing by 7.4% Y/Y

In the fourth quarter of 2025, newly registered legal entities in Bulgaria totalled 11,596, and those entering insolvency/bankruptcy proceedings, including those declared insolvent, numbered 1,251. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, newly registered entities increased by 4.1%, and bankruptcies rose by 7.4%, the National Statistical Institute said on its website on Friday.

In the third quarter of 2025, compared with the third quarter of 2024, both newly registered and bankrupt entities increased by 0.1%.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, compared with the third quarter of 2025, newly registered legal entities increased by 0.4%, while those entering insolvency/bankruptcy proceedings, including those declared insolvent, increased by 23.3%.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the sector "Trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles" accounted for the largest share of both newly registered and insolvent firms – 86.7% and 87.9%, respectively.
