site.btaOctober Retail Trade Turnover Up by 1%, M/M
Retail trade turnover, excluding sales of motor vehicles and motorcycles, registered an increase in October, by 1% compared to the previous month, according to preliminary and seasonally adjusted data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on Friday.
Trade turnover went up by 7.4% compared to October 2024, the data show.
In October 2025, an increase in turnover was reported in the retail sale of non-food products, excluding fuel (2.1%), the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores (1.5%), and the retail sale of food, beverages, and tobacco (0.5%).
Within the non-food category, a rise was observed in retail sale of textiles, clothing, and footwear and leather goods (4.1%); the retail sales of computers, peripheral units, software and telecommunications equipment (3.2%); and the retail sale of audio and video equipment, hardware, paints and glass, and electrical household appliances (1.6%). A decrease was noted in the retail sale of medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles (1.2%).
Year-on-year, turnover in October went up in the retail sale of non-food products, excluding fuel (12.9%) and of automotive fuel in specialised stores (7.8%). A decrease was reported in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco (0.2%).
Within the non-food category, an year-on-year rise was observed in all sub-categories, the biggest one registered in textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (24%); computers, peripheral units and software and telecommunications equipment (20.8%); and audio and video equipment, hardware, paints and glass, and electrical household appliances (15.4%).
