Economic competitiveness has long been among the main political priorities of the European Union, and every modern economy strives for sustainable growth, innovation, and improved prosperity for its workforce, National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan said at the opening of the international conference “Vision 2050: Building Bulgaria's Competitiveness Through the Global Future” in Sofia on Thursday. The event was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham Bulgaria) to mark its 30th anniversary.
In her address, Nazaryan emphasized that initiatives such as this one contribute to the strategic dialogue on key topics like competitiveness and national security, the strengthening of transatlantic partnerships, and the promotion of innovation and sustainable development across various sectors. She said that the forum also explores the prospects for developing relations between the United States and the European Union, the world’s largest economic area, generating over one-third of global GDP.
The Parliament Chair congratulated AmCham Bulgaria on its anniversary, pointing out that in the three decades since its establishment, the organization has become a leading business platform uniting more than 350 American, Bulgarian, and international companies. She said that the Chamber actively fosters connections between business leaders and institutions and has initiated numerous significant events in the fields of economy, politics, and social affairs.
Addressing the same forum, Ivan Mihaylov, Chief Executive Officer of AmCham Bulgaria, described the Chamber as “a beacon that will always illuminate the horizon ahead, even in times of trial, through stormy seas and lack of perspective”. He said this was the promise that the organization should make today to its members, partners, and to the country.
