After a three-year absence, Bulgaria will once again take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, whose 70th anniversary edition will be held in May 2026 in Vienna, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) said on Friday. “Eurovision is a stage where cultures meet and stories are shared. BNT supports talented artists, and we are delighted to once again give a Bulgarian performer the opportunity to represent our country before a global audience,” said BNT Director General Emil Koshlukov.

Eurovision Director Martin Green also welcomed Bulgaria’s return, noting that it is proof that Europe remains united through music.

In the coming months, Bulgaria’s entry for the competition - both the artist and the song - will be selected through a national process. Details about the format will be announced at a later stage.

The two semifinals of Eurovision 2026 will take place on May 12 and 14, and the grand final on May 16. Vienna will host the contest following the victory of Austrian performer JJ with the song Wasted Love in Basel in 2025, BNT said.

BNT noted that Eurovision is among the most-watched television events in the world. The latest edition attracted 166 million viewers from 37 participating countries and over 100 others voting online.
