After years devoted to underwater photography, Mihail Zaimov is coming “to the surface” with his new project, Devonian, his first exhibition above water. The show will be on display at One Gallery in Sofia from October 31 to November 10, the organizers said.

The artist, known for his 17 exhibitions, tells through this project a story of personal and creative transition – from the world of the depths to the space of light and air.

Devonian is a nod to the geological period when life first left the ocean and stepped onto land. According to Zaimov, the exhibition is “a travelogue about the time that accumulates within us, about the memories that shape us and the freedom to explore new horizons”.

Mihail Zaimov was born in 1967 in Sofia. He graduated from the Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He is a painter, television host, journalist, writer, and maritime traveller, best known as an underwater photographer with numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad.
