Young people in Pazardzhik will rediscover history through visual arts and the written word, The Vi ART Foundation said on Sunday.

The Vi ART Foundation’s new ARTiFACTS project, presented at the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Press Club, is designed to engage 15- to 20-year-olds in creative explorations of cultural and historical heritage.

The initiative aims to involve local youth in a creative process focused on researching and interpreting the region’s cultural and historical legacy, project leader Edelvais Todorova said.

The programme will include a range of activities that encourage meaningful use of free time, the development of creative and social skills, greater participation in cultural life, and building intergenerational bridges. It also seeks to establish young people as bearers of cultural memory and identity.

Participants will take part in historical expeditions to the Pazardzhik Regional History Museum, the prehistoric settlement mound in Yunatsite village, Velingrad History Museum, the medieval Tsepina Fortress, and the Pliocene Park Natural History Museum in Dorkovo village.

The project will culminate in an exhibition, a documentary film covering the events, and a bilingual catalogue featuring visual and written work produced by the young participants.

ARTiFACTS is financed by the National Programme for the Implementation of Youth Activities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
