The beach resort of Primorsko and the nearby ancient rock sanctuary Beglik Tash once again welcome the grandeur of European opera. On Saturday, July 26, the sixth “Opera on the Sanctuary” Festival will open with the remarkable work Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saens, Primorsko Town Hall said.

The performance will take place on an open-air stage at Beglik Tash, starting at 20:30, under the starry sky and surrounded by ancient megalithic stones. The production, directed by Alexander Tekeliev and conducted by Grigor Palikarov, promises to be an unforgettable spectacle, combining musical brilliance with a stunning visual presentation using 3D mapping technology by Nikola Peshev.

The event is a joint initiative between the Municipality of Primorsko and the Burgas State Opera.

Primorsko Mayor Ivan Gaikov, host of the festival, emphasized that “Opera on the Sanctuary” is a truly exceptional cultural event, growing in stature each year and establishing itself as a significant artistic highlight in the region. “Supporting a project of such importance, which blends history and contemporary art, is a testament to our commitment to sustainable cultural development and to promoting Primorsko as a cultural destination of European standing,” Gaikov added.

The festival will continue throughout August with a series of major operatic titles by Giuseppe Verdi, including the iconic works Il Trovatore (August 2), Rigoletto (August 9), Aida (August 16), and Nabucco (August 23), all performed on the stage at Beglik Tash.

Mayor Gaikov’s team is working to ensure that “Opera on the Sanctuary” 2025 becomes a true celebration of orchestral and vocal art, set in the majestic natural surroundings and ancient spirit of the Thracian sanctuary.

Tickets for Samson and Delilah are available at the box office of the Burgas State Opera, the “Clock” ticket booth, and via the internet platforms Grabo and Eventim.
