The 36th edition of the Process - Space Art Festival will be held from June 12 to 15 in Balchik, curator Hristina Bobokova said to BTA in Ruse on Tuesday.
Participants from Bulgaria and abroad will gather for the festival, which will be under the motto UNTOLD = The Untold Will Be Told". Bobokova noted that the theme of the festival provokes the participants in the residency programme to create art of sharing, reflection and empathy.
"Art is always a kind of narrative, regardless of whether it is about stories, about seen or unseen spaces, (...) or any topic from the life around us. The difference in creating art is in crossing boundaries, in the courage to express what you hold and hide in your thoughts, to be able to recreate it in the most correct way for you, in order to be understood", she emphasized, adding that UNTOLD provokes the participants to share something that they have not dared to do before.
The Narrativa Gallery from Veliko Tarnovo will also open an exhibition of several artists curated by Gancho Ganchev during the forum, while lecturers will present their positions related to their work and contemporary trends in art.
The festival programme will include screenings of two documentaries by director Dimitar Lipovanski, one of which examines the problems of protecting and preserving immovable cultural heritage in Bulgaria. The 2024 short film The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, which was nominated at the 2025 Academy Awards, will be screened as well.
Bobokova recalled that the Process - Space Art Festival is the oldest contemporary art festival in Bulgaria, founded in 1992 by art historian and artist Dimitar Grozdanov. The forum is a stage for all contemporary trends and ideas in art, including unconventional forms and new media formats, aiming to present new and established artists from all over the world.
