The Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is marking its 83rd anniversary with a two-day international conference, BAS said.
The Institute's Director, Prof. Svetla Koeva, opened the forum, stressing that it brings together the leading researchers focused on the Bulgarian language. "The results we achieve together throughout the year are presented at the conference," she said.
The Institute's annual awards were presented at the opening.
Attending the opening were BAS Vice-President Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov and directors of institutes and universities. More than 80 researchers from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Poland, Russia and Ukraine are participating in the forum. Leading Bulgarian studies scholars will deliver plenary lectures, including Mariola Walczak-Mikolajczak (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland), Petar Sotirov (Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland), Christina Markou (Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini, Greece), and Jakub Banasiak (Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences).
The international conference organized by the Institute for Bulgarian Language has established itself as a prestigious forum for presenting the latest achievements and trends in linguistic research in Bulgaria and abroad. It showcases the scientific accomplishments of the Institute's nine departments, including the results of national and international research projects and collaborations with Bulgarian and foreign academic institutions, BAS noted.
