For the third consecutive year Bulgaria will host an international 3D video mapping contest, supported by the Ministry of Tourism. It will take place as part of the programme of the fourth edition of the LUNAR Festival of Lights from May 8 to 11. The facade of the National Gallery / Kvadrat 500 will come alive with projections of seven final visual works, selected from a total of 52 applications from 26 countries, with twice as many people willing to take part this year compared to last year's edition of the festival.

"International 3D video mapping competitions attract not only artists who have the opportunity to showcase their art by transforming landmark buildings, but also audiences from different countries who experience a variety of art and local landmarks. “The realization of such a contest in Bulgaria is important not only for the development of the artistic scene, but also for tourism in the country. For the third edition of the competition, we have chosen the theme of heritage, precisely because people often learn about the places they visit through the symbols and shared values that accompany them," said Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh.

The Ministry of Tourism focuses on the development of urban tourism and the promotion of Sofia as a cultural destination through strategic support of events of international importance. In the words of the tourism minister, it is the cultural events held in emblematic urban spaces that play a key role in creating new tourist routes and extending the tourist season.

The works which will be enjoyed by the residents and guests of the capital will last from 60 to 90 seconds. Access to all works will be free and will be presented during the four evening show programmes of the LUNAR festival.
