An exhibition titled Europa. L'illustrazione italiana racconta l'Europa dei popoli featuring works by Italian illustrators was unveiled Tuesday in Kino Cabana in Sofia on the occasion of Europe Day. The event was attended by Italy's Ambassador to Bulgaria Giuseppina Zarra, Istituto Italiano di Cultura Director Maria Mazza, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov, Sweden's Ambassador to Bulgaria Katarina Rangnitt and the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria.

The exhibition is of great political, ethical and civic significance and aims to show the public all the founding values of the European states' community. It is using artistic language to compose a topical and creative narrative of Europe and its principles through illustrations dedicated to each of them: from freedom to democracy, from the rule of law to environmental protection. The works also recall the history of Turin - the cradle of the Risorgimento and the Italian national independence, but also a city that has always been multicultural, as well as the history of Piedmont, a region of positivism in science and research, from agriculture to technology.

The project, which features renowned Italian illustrators established on the international scene, is realized by the Turin Museums Foundation in collaboration with Turin Municipality and Palazzo Madama, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Activities.

The exhibition will run until 23 May. It will feature works by Matteo Berton, Francesco Bongiorni, Riccardo Guasco, Camilla Falsini, Elisa Seitzinger, Andrea Serio, Anna Parini, Francesco Poroli, Irene Rinaldi, Lucio Schiavon, Ale Giorgini, Emiliano Ponzi, Bianca Bagnarelli, Marina Marcolin, Gianluca Folì, Giulia Conoscenti, Rita Petruccioli, Gio Quasirosso, Manfredi Ciminale, Luca Font, Elisa Talentino and Antonio Zeoli.
