The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria is launching a series of events here on Wednesday, marking the 35th anniversary of its establishment with a ceremonial celebration of the Day of the Bulgarian Constitution in Veliko Tarnovo, the Court's press service reported.
The Court will welcome official guests to the city, including representatives of the president's administration, the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of power, the legal profession, and academia, as well as former constitutional judges whose terms have expired.
Constitutional Court President Pavlina Panova will open the celebration with an address at the Museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly, where the Tarnovo Constitution was adopted on April 16, 1879. The program will continue with addresses by President Iliana Iotova, National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan, and caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov.
Greetings will also be delivered by Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov, the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Galina Zaharova, Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva, as well as heads of professional organizations in the legal field.
The official events hosted by the Constitutional Court throughout the year will continue with an international academic conference at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” on May 20, according to the institution’s official website. The largest and final international forum will take place on October 15 in Sofia, bringing together official guests, including delegations from constitutional courts of various countries.
