The second group of the 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition departed early on Tuesday morning on a flight from Sofia Airport, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute said.
On Monday, Bulgarian Ambassador to Argentina, Stoyan Mihaylov, and representatives of Bulgarian associations in Buenos Aires, Berisso, and Presidencia Roque Saenz Pena welcomed the Bulgarian military research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril and Metodii in Mar del Plata. The ship arrived at the military base of the Argentine city on December 13 after a month-long voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. This was announced by the team of the Bulgarian Embassy in Argentina through a publication on the official website of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first group of the 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition departed on November 6 on a flight from Sofia.
The Bulgarian research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril and Metodii is sailing toward the Antarctic as part of the 34th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition and on December 16 will continue its voyage to the Bulgarian base on Livingston Island. There it will deliver equipment and supplies and support the research projects of Bulgarian and international scientists.
RSV 421 departed from the Port of Varna on November 7, 2025. The ship is expected to return to Varna in mid-April 2026.
